As a University of Cincinnati student, Kenechukwu Onaga will be spending a summer co-op term with us here at Signalysis. Let’s go 1 on 1 with Kenechukwu to learn a little more about him!
What are your duties here at Signalysis?
My duties here are mainly to assist with operations in any way I can. Some of my main duties include creating or editing CAD models, assembling parts needed in operations, collating and analyzing data and on various parts so that research can be done on them, brainstorming ideas that could help the operations team and make work much easier, and the list goes on.
Where do you call home?
I am an international student from Nigeria. I grew up in the city of Lagos, and stayed there for most of my life, and that is where I call home.
Is this your first co-op term?
No, I have had two co-op terms prior to this at two separate companies. This is my third co-op term.
What do you hope to learn while at Signalysis?
I hope to learn a lot about noise and vibration analysis as it is the company’s focus. I had recently taken a class on systems dynamics and vibrations, and when I was shown how the company analyzes data using FRFs, modal analysis, and other various methods, I was intrigued and wanted to learn more about it. I also want to improve my critical thinking skills. Coming up with various ideas for projects thrown at me is one of the best things about co-ops and Signalysis encourages that a lot.
How has your experience with Signalysis been to date?
My experience here has been awesome. There is never a boring moment at Signalysis. There are projects to work on all day every day, and they are also fascinating. Another thing with the projects is that the field that the company is in is so niche that you will learn so much every day. The managers are easy-going, very kind, and considerate, which makes working here all the more fun.
Do you have any hidden talents or a brush with greatness?
One thing that I realize about myself is my competitiveness. I have this innate feeling of wanting to be the best at whatever I am doing no matter what, which has made me learn a lot of new skills and made me versatile.
What’s your favorite movie?
I’m not sure what my favorite movie is, but my favorite two series are Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. What I love most is how unpredictable they are.
Do you like to travel? If so, where are some of your favorite destinations?
For now, I am not into traveling because I am still in school, but later in life, I would like to visit the various countries in Europe.
